The basic principle

A ground screw is mechanically installed into the ground. Its shaft, helix and connection head form part of a foundation system that supports the structure above.

The useful question is not simply whether a screw can enter the ground. The screw type, depth, layout, connection and ground response need to suit the project.

What the ground contributes

Ground conditions influence achievable depth, installation resistance and the way load is transferred. Surface appearance alone is not enough to confirm the material below.

Changes in installation response can help identify disturbed layers, obstructions or stronger material, but interpretation must remain project-specific.
