Where ground screws may reduce work
- Less excavation and spoil removal may be needed.
- There is no concrete curing period for the screw itself.
- Installation may be useful on sites where wet trades or excavation are difficult.
- Connections can be set out for a prefabricated timber or steel base.
Where concrete may still be appropriate
Concrete or another foundation type may be more appropriate where the ground, load, geometry, fire or durability requirement, connection detail, obstruction risk or project specification does not suit a ground screw system.
Compare complete systems
A useful comparison includes design, site preparation, access, excavation, spoil, concrete, curing, installation plant, tolerances, structural base and verification—not only the unit cost of a support.
This is a method overview, not a project recommendation. Compare suitable, designed foundation options on a like-for-like scope.
